Competitions requirements

These is a performance competition

There will be 2 competitions :

1 for harp solo

1 for duo harp and any other instrument except harp; except voice.

These are Open Age competitions. For duo, that allows parents and children, or siblings or friends to play together in duo

Competitors for both competitions will be required to perform

On irish or celtic harp (whatever kind of strings)

Any type of music

For duet at least one tune must be played once in unison

Not exceeding 8 minutes with a minimum of 5 minutes

What will be looking for for both competitions:

-flow

-variety

-originality

-arrangement

-presentation of music

-stage presentation

-A list of pieces of music will be given to the adjudicator prior to the performance

For duo :

-complicity

-that harp is not only accompaniement but has its part in the performance

-that both instrument (harp and the other) play harmonies

COMPETITIONS ENTRY FEES

€20 per competition

Public will be admitted free of charge

COMPETITIONS RULES

1) All ages Competitions

2)All entry forms for competitors under 18 years of age must be signed by a parent or guardian

3) In order that 3 Prizes per competition may be awarded it will be            necessary to have at least 4 competitors (4 solos / 4 duos) in any competition

4) If a competitor is not present herself or himself when called for in the competition he/she/they may be disqualified

5) The committee will not be responsible for any at loss of, or damage to, competitor’s property

6) For duet, both competitors’ full names and adresses must be listed on the entry forms

7)Any objection must be written and signed by objector and handed to the secretary together with a fee of €10 within fifteen minutes of the close of competition and before the adjudicators decision is announced

8)The decision of the committee shall be final and binding in respect of all matters relating to the competitions and this shall be accepted by each competitor

9)Each competitor on entering the competition will be deemed to have read and accepted these rules

10)Entries must be in accordance with these rules, fee(s) must be payed, and validity of an entry is the responsability of the competitor

11)Each competitor will have his/her wristband to compete

12)Competitions will be acoustic only

13) All candidates will receive one free entry to the Finale Concert

Competitions will take place on Sunday 25th of March 2018 afternoon, venue will be given after deadline to each competitor

Results and Prizes will be given at the Finale Concert on same day evening.

Competitions deadline is : February 28th, 5pm.
